2nd. Lt. Philip J. Chase - Pilot of B-24 bomber Harmful Lil Armful

Philip J. Chase was born on August 28, 1915, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Jackson High School and was co-captain of the swim team during his senior year. He also graduated from Jackson Junior College. He attended Calvary Methodist Church and previously worked as an orders clerk for the Great Lakes Steel Corp. in Detroit. He married Lois Ethelwyn Stark on March 16, 1940, and they had one son, John Philip Chase, born on January 17, 1945.

Philip enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 9, 1942, with the service number 16082236. He later became an officer and served with the service number O-745621. In January 1943, he completed his Primary Flight Training at Thunderbird Field in Glendale, Arizona. On February 22, 1943, he was listed at the Basic Flying School in Marana, Arizona. On September 8, 1943, he was at Wendover Air Force Base in Utah, assigned to the 715th Bomb Squadron of the 448th Bomb Group. On September 19, 1943, he was at AAB Sioux City Air Force Base in Iowa. On November 5, 1943, he was at Herington Air Force Base in Kansas.

Philip J. Chase died on December 25, 1986 in the city of Scottsdale, located in Arizona.
